YOUNG PERFORMERS WIN AGAIN

The youth training arm of The Indee began in 2002 with the specific aim in mind to only work with small groups.  In this way individual attention could be paid to the emerging talents, whereas this can't happen with large classes.

The yearly intake is kept to keen students so we do ask to meet and assess each of them.

One part of the yearly youth theatre program since then has been to set a play or plays to be entered into the Sunshine Coast Theatre Festival, Junior and Intermediate Sections.

These festival entries are not about winning.  Each year we tell the budding actors this.  Rather it's about giving it their very best shot and showcasing what they have learnt.

The Youth Theatre Director is noted actor and drama teacher, Luke Lanham.  His assistants are Carol and John Burls and Gloria Gray.

The youngsters receive training in dance, song, overall performance and dialogue.  They progress quickly because they're involved in on-stage work.

Early year they work towards the Super Concert in May, then the Theatre Festival or a Youth Production (this year The Wind in the Willows) and finally the annual January pantomime (2010 The Wizard of Oz).
